Ben Folds

albumI love Ben Folds. Love him. He’s kind of weird, but I don’t care. His songs kick ass. And now he’s got a new album. He decided to recruit University A Capella groups from around the country to sing his songs. He viewed all the YouTube video submissions, then went to each campus and recorded their versions of the songs for the album. Can’t wait to get home and download these songs on iTunes tonight! Anyone else joining me with some Ben Folds love?

Sneak Peek

The Laundry Room Renovation started this weekend.
Oh, and it’s kind of amazing that we are still alive. Apparently a huge crack in the dryer-vent-tube-thingy is not exactly safe.
Kudos to my husband for doing this without actually pissing his pants.
Or, maybe he did?

I had to share this link with you guys. Miller Park Drunk is one of my new favorite blogs, especially since the Brewers aren’t doing so great so far this year.

One year

One year ago this week, we closed on our house.  We took a few days to clean and paint.  And by “we”, I mean me, my dad, and Matt’s brother Stephen.  Well, I suppose other people helped.  But I’m pretty sure Stephen did the bulk of the work.

Here’s the first room we painted.  This is the rather disturbing “before”.

Hard at work.

Plenty left to do here, but new paint, new light fixture, new carpet and new curtains go a long way.

One of my favorite pictures from those first few grueling days is of the living room ceiling.

The “brown” part looked like a pretty normal ceiling until we started painting it white. Let this be a warning to you readers. Always paint the ceiling.

The other main project that we did those first couple of days was to remove the in-wall speakers and put some drywell over them.  I had absolutely nothing to do with this project.  Other than order it to be done.  Obviously.  Kenner took the lead and did a pretty fine job.  Look.  He’s even smiling.

You’ve already seen pictures of the living room re-do, and we also repainted the kitchen, hallways and master bath. Over the following week, Matt and I tackled the two extra bedrooms and the guest bath.

We finally took a little breather, and then the pump broke.  But that is a story for another day.

Anyway, it’s been quite the year for house renovations.  I can’t wait to finally finish the laundry room so we can officially be done painting (oh, except I plan on repainting the kitchen again – but only when Stephen is visiting).
